nicetenant helps renters verify their identity, salary, and employment once and share a trusted profile with the landlords and agents they choose. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short on purpose.

Who we are

What we collect

• Account details — your name and email address when you sign up.
• Identity verification — a photo of your government ID and a selfie, processed through our verification provider (Plaid) to confirm you are who you say you are.
• Financial data — when you link your bank read-only through Plaid, we receive transaction and balance information used to confirm your salary. We never see or store your bank login credentials, and we cannot move money.
• Employment details — information you provide, or a confirmation from your work email, to verify your employer.
• Usage data — basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) needed to run the service securely.

How we use it

• To verify your identity, salary, and employment.
• To build a verification profile that you can share, using a short code, with the landlords and agents you choose.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

What agents and landlords see

You control who sees your profile. When you share your code with an agent, they see a summary of your verified results — for example, that your salary was confirmed and the band it falls in. They do not see your raw bank transactions, your ID photo, or your selfie. Your profile share stays valid for 90 days, and you can revoke it at any time.

How we share data

We share information only with the service providers that make verification work — principally Plaid (identity and bank verification) and our payment and email providers — and only as needed to deliver the service. Each is bound to protect your data. We may also disclose information where required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep your verification profile for as long as your account is active. Sensitive verification inputs, such as your ID image, are retained only as long as needed to complete and support the verification, then removed in line with our providers' policies. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.

Your choices

• Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
• Revoke a shared profile or unlink your bank connection at any time.
• Close your account by emailing privacy@nicetenant.com.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls, and read-only bank connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.

Children

nicetenant is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the date above and, for material changes, let you know.
